Today saw the very first planting at the Food Forest. This was a day to celebrate Yooralla and their donors,  and included guests from the Yooralla Foundation, some of their donors and the VASS residents. Although the site is still a construction zone, the Global Gardens of Peace team, (who are project managing and building the forest), carefully secured the site to make it safe,  and created some temporary ramps for wheelchair users and all guests. Andrew and Susana had laid out the plants in position.  Terry, CEO of Yooralla welcomed us all and Andrew spoke about the forest and how we were to go about planting. Sue and Kirsty planted the very first tree- the Preston fig donated by William from DFFH, and then everyone had some fun getting their hands dirty and getting the first lot of plants into the ground. Enjoy this video that Zac created!
