On December 8th, we were also thrilled to welcome Ged Kearney, Federal Member for Cooper to VASS for a tour of the Food Forest site. for me it was a bitter sweet day, one that I know Gerard would have loved, as he enjoyed talking about the project and inspiring others to get involved. Hopefully, I did him proud. Susana from Global Gardens did an awesome job explaining the project and the plans. I really enjoyed meeting Ged and Georgia- it was all quite overwhelming.
On December 17th, Ged shared this on her Facebook post:
“I cannot wait to see the finished Global Gardens of Peace project at VASS!
VASS or Ventilation accommodation support service is a long term residential support service for people who are dependant on ventilation and provide some short term respite care.
The other day Kat Theophanous MP and I visited the site of their planned global garden which has been designed in consultation with the residents and award winning architects.
Greenery can do a world of good in transforming places like VASS from their institutional roots to a modern day sanctuary.”
