On December 14th, Kat Theophanous, MP,  Member for Northcote, shared a post about her site visit to VASS to see the location of the Food Forest and to hear more about our plans. She has been a great supporter of the  Forest and has assisted Global Gardens with some great opportunities for grants for this project. It was great to meet Kat and Sam in person and to hear their thoughts about Gerard and the garden.. overwhelmed!
Kat wrote in her post:
“Earlier in the year I told you about a very special local project to build a food forest at Yooralla’s residential facility in #Thornbury.
It was championed by Gerard Stevenson, who sadly passed away earlier this year. His wife Sue has now taken up the cause and it was very moving to meet with her in person last week to talk about the project.
With Global Gardens of Peace behind them, and a groundswell of community support, we are hopeful that construction will commence early next year to create a wonderful living oasis for these residents who live on ventilator support.”
